Please send me any xmas funnies or stories about any of your runs. Remember the one about Dave Mewse getting a shock on an electric fence, or Ross Toole going a 16 mile XC run over the Glennifer Braes in the middle of the track season and nearly missing his shift at the Dave Lloyd club....!!!

 Upcoming Race Preview...

Beith 4.8m RR...2.1.10
4 x 1.2 mile loop is the format for this road race, near Kilbirnie Ladeside football gound. Go to Beith Harriers website for all race times, and details of distances for age groups etc. Not the most scenic of races, but good to keep your eye on your time as it is 4 laps of equal distance, so good for spectators too. Ross Toole won here before after a tussle with Irvine's Dave Millar. I had my first ever race here when I was with Bellahouston Harriers, but my best races were with Kilbarchan. I remember having a tussle in Jan 06 with Chris Devenney on the last lap, and of course, he got away from me. Craig Mc Caffer had been at a party the night before and he ran 4 very blurry laps !!  DB.

 Wed 30 Dec 2009..

Possibly my last run of 2009 as I am clay pigeon shooting in Dalry on New Years eve.

Today I had a 90 min run in Pollok Park on the golfies and on the mountain bike trails.

I started around 11am, and there was a brief flurry of heavy snow at the ''sheeptrack'' near Pollok House. It only lasted 10 mins thank god, as it was very heavy. It had gone off by the time I reached Pollok Golf course, which was still covered in a few inches of snow. You can still follow the Shettleston Harriers runners footprints from last week, as the snow hasn't lifted since. The lower end of the ''sheeptrack'' was like glass, as there was water lying on top of the ice, very slippery. I headed towards Cartha clubhouse, base for Bellahouston Harriers, and went on the mountain bike trails. These were free of bikers, probably due to the weather, but the trails themselves were largely frost free due to the shelter of the trees. After several hilly circuits, I headed back to the car before the next flurry of snow. The path along past Pollok House and the riverbank (towards the tennis courts) was very icy, and involved running like John Cleese for a couple of miles.

Afterwards I headed to Greens Gym at Finnieston to submerge myself in the pool for 20 mins, and from the Brasserie, a Long Half Caff, Skinny , Non- Fat Frothy, Latte , Creme brulee coffee which took longer to make than it did for me to drink !!!
